The Overduin Family coat of arms
This is the coat of arms used (circa 1575) by the earliest known Overdui(j)n, Bartelomeus Sijmonszoon Overduijn, who lived and worked in Den Haag, the Netherlands, as a shoemaker, alderman and 'Heilige Geestmeester' church authority). He signed several documents with a seal bearing this insignia. There is no evidence that it was granted by any royal authority, and nobody seems to have used it since Bartelomeus - but there is also no reason why we cannot revive it now, if we wish. This reconstruction (by James Overduin and Evelyn Eekels) is based on a written description in 'Het Familieboek Overduin', 1993). |
